Reassessing Palomar Transients (1949–1957): A Statistical Look at Links to Nuclear Tests and UAP Reports
To the point
Beatriz Villarroel and colleagues analyzed over 100,000 historical sky flashes from Palomar plates to test whether they cluster around Cold War nuclear tests and UAP reports, and found transients occur more often near detonations (about 23 flashes vs 9 on other days; relative risk ≈ 1.45; p = 0.008) and show a modest association with UAP sightings, while emphasizing rigorous checks and replication and avoiding claims of alien visitation.
