In January 1981 a farmer near Trans-en-Provence reported that a craft landed on his property, after which ground traces and soil and plant samples were collected within 24 hours and analyzed by several laboratories as GEPAN, later SEPRA, conducted the investigation under Jean-Jacques Velasco, with Renato Nicolai notifying the gendarmes.
