To mark the 50th anniversary of Project Blue Book, the National Archives presented an East Rotunda Gallery exhibit of declassified Air Force UFO records from 1947–1969 (12,618 sightings, 701 unidentified) from December 5, 2019, to January 8, 2020, noting no extraterrestrial threat amid civil rights and Vietnam War–era distrust of government and inviting visitors to learn more through accompanying materials, while the broader program features Past Featured Records such as Spymaster-in-Chief: George Washington’s Wartime Espionage to illuminate America’s civic history and the ongoing conversation about government, memory, and inquiry.
