Reform councillor demands investigation into Doncaster UFOs

LBC's Alex Taylor bring James O'Brien a local politics story that's truly out of this world... Reform Councillors in Doncaster have been accused of ‘u-turning’ over funding towards the reopening of the region’s airport, in an extraordinary meeting that would go on to have UFOs brought up. This was titled as a motion to ‘rescind’ the borrowing of £57 million pounds towards the reopening of Doncaster-Sheffield Airport. It's been closed since 2022, the previous owners , Peel Group, said it was no longer financially viable, since then there has been a huge campaign to get it back open, local Labour politicians such as the South Yorkshire Mayor and Energy Secretary Ed Miliband very much behind it, the Prime Minister has been in Doncaster to back it. The Reform group, who are the largest party on the council, say there was new information that came to light around a 125 year lease signed with the council, including an annual 5 million pound base rate loan to Peel Group and called for an extraordinary meeting to discuss rescinding the money. After 2 hours of discussions, the Reform group decided to continue with the funding, which they'd already approved in November, with safeguards in place. This includes a written commitment that any new lease agreed is made available to councillors before it is approved. The Mayor for Doncaster, Labour’s Ros Jones, who has executive power in decision making, told LBC that Reform councillors “They were given opportunities to come to meetings about scrutiny and all the details were explained but they didn’t turn up. I can’t make people turn up” There was then an extraordinary moment where Cllr Kieran Lay decided to raise the issue of ‘UAP’s”, and their sightings above Doncaster airspace.
