Roswell police unveiled a new 500-patch design featuring a flying saucer with a beam forming the letter R, two alien faces, and the slogan Protect and Serve Those That Land Here, created by Support Services Sgt. Trong Nguyen after officers narrowed about a dozen designs to four finalists and voted in January, with 500 patches ordered, the first distributed this week, and the transition to the new design expected to be complete later this year, a move announced by Police Chief Lance Bateman to boost community relations and tie in with the town’s UFO lore while expanding School Resource Officers.
