Elaborate UFO Sculpture by Matt Beursken Perches Outside Treasure Island on Vashon Highway Southwest, Inspired by the Maury Island Incident.

To the point

Island artist Matt Beursken has installed a shiny fiberglass flying saucer with a see-through dome and a model alien in front of Treasure Island on Vashon Highway Southwest as an homage to the 1947 Maury Island incident; after moving to Maury Island in 2017 he began making Halloween saucers, evolving from milk-jug sculptures lit with Christmas lights to the current piece, which is displayed outside his home and sold at Treasure Island after the season (including for the Strawberry Festival) and is priced at $1,495 but remains unsold.
