Jonathan Jiang leads an international team proposing to send a binary interstellar message called BITG, expanding on the Arecibo message by encoding about 204,000 bits into 13 sections (primes, chemistry, DNA, a human form, Earth map, date stamp, and a reply invitation) and beaming it with FAST in China and the Allen Telescope Array in California to a target about 13,000 light-years from the galactic center during March–October, while calling for broad public discussion of the ethics and risks of METI amid skepticism and noting that humans already broadcast signals.
