Alien Abduction Experiences Reinterpreted as Psychopathology: An Online Clinico-Psychometric Study of Italian Adults

Researchers tested whether alien-abduction experiences are better explained by mental health problems than paranormal beliefs by conducting online interviews and four questionnaires with 112 Italian adults, finding widespread psychotic-like symptoms and various personality and relationship issues, and recommending psychotherapy (preferably CBT or strategic) and, in serious cases, medication, while warning against hypnosis for dissociative/false-memory concerns and proposing a symptom-severity scale.
