Beyond the Microwave Window: High-Frequency Archival Searches for Technosignatures with ALMA

To the point

Louise Mason of the University of Manchester says that scientists are widening SETI beyond the traditional radio band to high-frequency, narrowband signals using archival ALMA Band 3 data, Gaia astrometry, and the Besançon Milky Way model to survey thousands of stars for technosignatures, which could be deliberate transmissions, leaks, or relics from past civilizations.

SETI scientists are moving away from the classic search for extraterrestrial signals in the traditional “water well” and shifting to the analysis of narrowband frequencies.
