SETI@home, founded by David Anderson, Eric Korpela, and Dan Werthimer, mobilized millions of volunteers to use their computers to search telescope data for alien signals, reducing billions of candidates to a few dozen for review and, while no extraterrestrial beacon has been confirmed, improving methods and inspiring future citizen-science SETI work.
