On December 8, 1977 near Pt. Mugu, radar detected three to four moving targets with no corroborating aircraft, later followed by Allen Dredge of Golden West Airlines and his co-pilot observing unfamiliar strobes and two geometrically moving objects—one paralleling their course before vanishing and the other reappearing as two amber lights near Malibu—leading Wehrle to file a report with the FAA’s Phenomena Research group and Barry Greenwood to obtain the account via FOIA.
