Life elsewhere is plausible, but meaningful contact is unlikely for the foreseeable future given the vast cosmic distances, the possibility of non-physical or digital intelligences, and the Ships Passing in the Night phenomenon, so Earth may be unremarkable to others; nevertheless, continuing the search for life remains valuable for understanding our origins and science, and for now we should focus on preserving Earth while keeping curiosity about the cosmos.
