In late September 2021, people in Sydney saw a disc- or boomerang-shaped light cross the night sky and wonder if aliens were visiting, but it was later traced to a Chinese Long March 3B rocket launch from Xichang, whose bright plume explained the sight and showed how space activity can create dramatic, misinterpreted sightings far from the launch site.
