Family Seeking Northern Lights Witnesses Ufo In Illinois
A family near Scales Mound, Illinois, went out on January 19, 2026, hoping to see the Northern Lights due to recent solar storms making the Aurora Borealis visible in the area. Instead, they observed a strange purple, pulsating orb moving quickly in the northeastern sky. The object appeared and disappeared intermittently, made no sound, and did not resemble any known aircraft like planes or rockets. Given their location west of Milwaukee, the northeast sighting direction could point in that area, but the nature of the light remains unexplained. The family recorded a video of the phenomenon, which was reported to the National UFO Reporting Center. Despite proximity to known flight paths such as O’Hare Airport in Chicago, this sighting's characteristics do not align with conventional aircraft or known phenomena, leaving its origin uncertain.
