Researchers compared 19 UK experiencers of alien contact with age- and gender-matched controls and found experiencers had higher dissociation and absorption, stronger paranormal beliefs and experiences, greater fantasy proneness and self‑reported psychic ability, more hallucinations and sleep paralysis, but no difference in false memories, suggesting such experiences relate to broader cognitive and perceptual traits and deserve further study (Cortex, 2008).
