Guillem Anglada-Escudé and the Pale Red Dot team announced Proxima b, an Earth-mass planet orbiting Proxima Centauri every 11.2 days in the habitable-zone region where liquid water could exist, but its red-dwarf host’s flares and infrared light would create a very different climate from Earth and more observations are needed to confirm it.
