Japan Plans Cabinet Secretariat–Led UAP Authority Under Crisis Management, to Be Finalized at March 30, 2026 General Assembly
To the point
Japan’s bipartisan Parliamentary Group for the Study of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena plans to create a Cabinet Secretariat–based government body under the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary for Crisis Management to oversee UAP intelligence and embed it in national security, with Yasukazu Hamada as chair and Yoshiharu Asakawa as assistant, to be finalized at the March 30, 2026 general assembly, replacing a prior Defense Ministry department plan and aligning with international standards; the move is accelerated by Trump’s declassification directive, prompted by the Genkai Nuclear Power Plant UAP incident and Minoru Kihara’s call to be able to analyze and respond to incursions, and the assembly will examine modernizing UAP reporting and analysis, including responses to the “Trump Statement,” with live streams on Nico Nico News and YouTube, as part of institutionalizing UAP management in Japan.
